The Hagley Museum and it’s 235 acres are the original site for the black powder works of the duPont family. Founded in 1802, you can stroll the grounds and see the ruins of several other buildings of the gunpowder mills or tour the duPont’s first home in America. As with all the duPont museums, the grounds are beautiful, especially with the backdrop of the Brandywine Creek. They have many activities throughout the year and the grounds include a research library. Tours are guided and cost $5 plus daily admission.
