About Va La Vineyards

About 59 minutes from the Inn

Va La Vineyards in Avondale, Pennsylvania is one of the most distinctive and acclaimed small wineries in the mid-Atlantic, producing Italian-inspired wines from unusual grape varieties grown on a single 12-acre estate. Winemaker Anthony Vietri has developed a devoted following for his unconventional approach — no Chardonnay or Cabernet here, but instead varietals like Sagrantino, Malvasia, and Nebbiolo that thrive in Pennsylvania’s climate. Tastings are intimate and informative, limited in size to preserve the farm-winery atmosphere. Va La has earned national attention and consistently wins top awards. A truly special experience for serious wine lovers, held in their historic building. They often have music indoors on winter weekends and concerts outside in nice weather. We love their La Prima Donna and Cedar. Very different wines and worth the drive. While you are there, be sure to stop in some of the many stores to buy the freshest mushrooms – this is, after all, the mushroom capital of the USA!
