This is our absolutely favorite grocery store! The best fresh produce, good meat prices and an endless bakery….all owned by a local Mennonite family. Their donations to local charities are non-stop. Their tractor-trailer can often be seen at local Weaverland Auction (just behind Terre Hill) for the freshest local produce, buying directly from our farmers. It’s not unusual to see huge bins filled with local corn, melons, pumpkins or whatever is in season. There are many events throughout the year, the Whoopie Pie Festival, the 50 lb. burger, special sales. But the biggest event (yes, we go every year) is the Midnight Gladness Sale on December 23. Terrific specials start at 5 pm. and further reductions are taken starting at 9 p.m. There’s free ice cream, special sales at the smorgasbord, gift shop and Goods Store. Beware – this is very well attended and the lines can get quite long. We’ve also written a blog about Shady.
