This is a small museum that started in 1980 when Gene and Russ Strine were able to retrieve a rare Northrop P-61 Back Widow Night Fighter that had crashed on a mountaintop In New Guinea. The museum has some wonderful aircraft displays – especially from WWII. The first weekend in June is their annual WWII Reenactment with vintage planes, speakers, a replication of a French village and even a 1940’s style dance. We usually see the vintage aircraft flying overhead on that weekend – and you can also buy tickets to ride in a WWII plane. It’s very interesting to walk among the collection (some are smaller than you think) and learn about their aviation history – especially the number of battles that they witnessed. This museum also has an active repair operation. It’s a must for any kid who dreams about flying or a WWII enthusiast.
