The Fulton Theatre in downtown Lancaster is one of America’s oldest continuously operating theaters, a National Historic Landmark that locals are convinced is haunted. Mark Twain, W.C. Fields and Harry Houdini are among the many performers that have stopped at The Fulton over the years. The beautifully restored Victorian interior is stunning on its own, and the Fulton’s resident professional company produces an ambitious season of Broadway musicals, dramas, and classics. The theater’s intimate scale — just over 600 seats — means there’s not a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are fabulous. If you are tall, try to get an aisle seat as the seats are a tad historically small. And yes, that gold leaf painted on the ceiling – it’s real! We have seen many shows here – it’s definitely a great experience.
